History

RK Builders started building homes in East Hawaii beginning in 1974. Ray's first home was built in 1972, when he and Gloria married. They had met at a real estate convention in Honolulu. Through the years, Ray built homes and Gloria sold them. The company has built a home in nearly every subdivision on the East side. Ray fell in love with local woods, especially koa when he bought 100-acre ohia forest in Pahoa. He operated a saw mill with kilns to harvest and dry the trees that were cut. Soon, he was using this wood in his homes. In the meantime, he founded the furniture company, R.K. Woods.
