History

The Mokichi Okada Association of Hawai'i was established in April 2009 in Honolulu. MOA Hawai'i is a local chapter of MOA international, with offices on Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island of Hawaii. MOA Hawai'i has been fortunate to receive generous support from Toho No Hikari, the community and the ever-growing MOA Hawai'i 'ohana. Mokichi Okada (1882-1955) is the visionary whose lifestyle, passion, and teachings became the founding inspiration for the international organization that continues to perpetuate his philosophy today. Through years of research, practice, and outreach, Okada consummated personal philosophies of holistic living, synthesizing health, natural foods, arts and culture. Okada's foundation for holistic living continues to positively affect thousands of lives every day.

Specialties

Okada Purifying Therapy or OPT: Purifying therapy is a healing method that channels and focuses spiritual bio-energy directly to the spiritual body to cure illness or pain. MOA believes that spiritual clouds and toxins are the cause of all sufferings that one experiences, which include illness. The MOA program that includes OPT is a means to reduce and eliminate the spiritual clouds and toxins through a purification process. Flower and Tea Therapy: Bontemae and flower arranging play principle roles in the movement to promote art and culture, a movement that builds honest interpersonal relationships and cultivates the spirit necessary to establish an artistically rich society. The Bontemae Tea Ceremony, is performed in our Golden Tea room combining the aesthetic values of sabi (elegant simplicity) and wabi (subdued elegance) in a timelessly beautiful Japanese custom. Healthy Cooking We now offer healthy cooking workshops. In June 2019 we had a tofu making workshop. There will be more to come! Room Rentals: We offer four room rental spaces at an hourly rate that are ideal for massage therapist, acupuncturist, physical therapists etc. who need a private personal space to bring their clients. Two 9' x 14' therapy rooms and two 9' x 10' therapy rooms. We also have two larger rooms that are ideal for meetings or demonstrations that can hold up to 20-60 people. One room is 481 square feet and one room is 620 square feet.
