Visiting Mauna Loaʻs Visitor Center is a must when it comes to visiting Hawaiʻi Island. Beginning in 1946, in the shadow of Mauna Loa volcano herself, we learned to grow and roast our macadamias to produce a nut with luscious buttery flavor and satisfying crunch—becoming a Hawaiian icon in the process.
