Maui Invasive Species
The Maui Invasive Species Committee (MISC) is dedicated to protecting Maui's watersheds, ecological resources, agriculture, and community by managing invasive plant and animal species. As a project of the University of Hawai'i-Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit, MISC focuses on controlling priority invasives, including coqui frogs and little fire ants, through community engagement and resource support.
MISC implements various programs and initiatives aimed at preventing the establishment and spread of invasive species, such as the Coqui Control Program and the Little Fire Ant Detector Dog Program. Their efforts are crucial in aiding the sustainability of Maui's unique environment and maintaining the island's biodiversity.
