History
After graduating from law school, Mr. Hookano served as the legal specialist to the Office of the County Clerk on the Island of Hawaii. While there he advised the clerk and members of the Hawaii County Council on their legal rights and responsibilities. He also served as the attorney to the Charter Commission which convenes once every ten years to review and revise the county's governing document. Mr. Hookano has also served as an administrator for the Hawaii State Bar Association, organizing seminars for Hawaii's attorneys and other community programs. In addition, he has served as a member of the board of directors for the Hawaii County Bar Association, the Chair of the HSBA Government Lawyers Section, and as President of the HSBA Young Lawyers Division. Military Career In 2009, Mr. Hookano commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the Hawaii Army National Guard, Judge Advocate General's Corps.
