Koganji Temple, located in Honolulu, Hawaii, was founded in the late 1970s as a Buddhist community dedicated to spiritual guidance and the evolving needs of its members. As the first Tendai sect temple established outside Japan, it offers a rich historical and cultural connection to the traditions of Buddhism, emphasizing education in Lotus Buddhism, Heart Sutra, Esoteric Buddhism, and Zen meditation.
The temple was established under the leadership of Bishop Rose, who experienced a spiritual calling throughout her life. Since its dedication in 1982, Koganji Temple has grown to serve over 500 members and continues to play a vital role in the local community by fostering spiritual growth and understanding through various teachings and practices.
