Huilua Fishpond, located in Ahupua'a O Kahana State Park on windward O'ahu, is a significant ancient Hawaiian fishpond that has been in operation for centuries, surviving multiple tsunamis and undergoing restoration efforts since the 1990s.
Declared a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1962, Huilua Fishpond features a 500-foot rock seawall enclosing 7 acres of brackish water, with a rich history dating back to the early 1400s and serving as a testament to traditional Hawaiian aquaculture practices.
