Hokulani Porter, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, CNSPH

Hokulani can trace her roots to Ka'u three generations back to her great grandmother. She herself is born and raised on West O'ahu. She received a dual master's degree in public health and as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the University of Hawaii. She was awarded a Native Hawaiian Scholarship which aimed to increase the numbers of native providers engaging in rural health. She was assigned to Ka'u hospital and South Kona for clinical rotations and felt the 'aina calling her back. After graduating in 2012, she worked in the family practice setting of federal qualified health centers and studied the social determinants of health and its affect on healthy outcomes.
