Helping Hands Hawaii

Established in 1977, Hawaii Disability Rights Center is a Congress-created protection and advocacy system for people with developmental disabilities in the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 1975. It protects and promotes the human, civil and legal rights of individuals through information and advocacy programs. The corporation has a group of more than 179,000 citizens. Hawaii Disability Rights Center offers protection and advocacy for individual rights and people with traumatic brain injuries. Additionally, the corporation provides advocacy for voter access. It offers information about vocational rehabilitation and employment services. The corporation also provides education and training for families, communities, legal professionals and service providers. Hawaii Disability Rights Center is located in Honolulu.

Arcadia Retirement Residence, established in 1967, is a nonprofit organization affiliated with the United Church of Christ. The amenities and services offered by the center include a barbershop and coffee shop, fully equipped kitchens, library, dining room and housekeeping, and linen and nursing services. It provides a variety of residential options, including one- and two-bedroom apartments with attached bathrooms and kitchens, telephones and guest rooms. The additional services offered by the center include transportation, spiritual activities, planned outings, 24-hour emergency support and medication monitoring. Arcadia Retirement Residence is located in Honolulu, and is a member of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.
