The new viewpoint is well worth seeing. Highly recommend it. So much better with great parking and 2 overlooks. Should be better signed from the highway.

Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge, nestled in the picturesque Hanalei Valley on the north shore of Kaua'i, is a vital sanctuary for endangered and threatened bird species. Established in 1972 under the Endangered Species Act, the refuge provides crucial wetlands habitat for species such as the Hawaiian duck, coot, moorhen, stilt, and goose.
Visitors can overlook the refuge from an observation point along Kūhiō Highway in Princeville and learn about the wildlife and conservation efforts through interpretive signage. With a focus on protecting and recovering endangered species, Hanalei NWR plays a key role in preserving the unique biodiversity of Kaua'i.
