The Bishop Museum is one of the largest museums in Hawaii and one of the premier natural and cultural history institutions in the Pacific region. It is recognized for its cultural collections, research projects, consulting services and public educational programs. The museum holds one of the largest natural history specimen collections in the world. The Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop in honor of his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, who was the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha family. Located in Honolulu, it houses a collection of Hawaiian and royal family heirlooms artifacts, documents and photographs about Hawaii and other Pacific island cultures.

Wonderful museum with a lot of variety. You enter through a tiny little gift shop and go out into a spacious courtyard where you can access all the buildings that compose of the entire museum....
