WJCL Savannah

WTOC-TV is a subsidiary of Raycom Media, which was created in 1996 with the purchase of 12 television stations, two radio stations, and a sports marketing, production, events management and distribution company. Shortly after this first acquisition, Raycom Media acquired two other companies. Raycom Media now stretches from Syracuse, N.Y., to Honolulu with businesses in more than 20 states. The television stations cover more than 10 percent of the United States' television households. Along with broadcasting, Raycom Media businesses include event management, distribution of syndicated television programming, and information systems support and design. The company, through Raycom Sports, owns and operates the Continental Tire Bowl in Charlotte, N.C., and two Ladies Professional Golf Association golf tournaments, as well as produces pre-season NFL football games for non-owned stations. In a partnership, it owns all television and marketing rights to the Atlantic Coast Conference basketball. WTOC-TV maintains a station in Savannah, Ga.

Operating in eight states, the Caribbean, Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States Virgin Islands, Morris Multimedia is one of the largest, privately-owned media companies in the United States. Founded in 1970, Morris comprises two divisions: Morris Newspaper Corporation, which owns and operates more than 90 daily and weekly newspapers, shoppers and niche publications; and Morris Network, which owns and operates four network affiliate television stations. In 2003, Morris announced the purchase of two television stations in Columbus, Miss. In 2004, two of Morris Media s Tennessee publications were exchanged for a Gannett daily newspaper in Gainesville, Ga. Morris Multimedia is headquartered in the historic Oliver Sturges House in Savannah, Ga.
