History

No matter how long I play guitar and how many students I help, I'm always learning, too. That's the real beauty of playing music - it is a journey and not a destination, and one I really love being a part of. Georgia born Guitarist Willie Barrow started playing guitar at the age of 9. Early in his career, he explored many different styles of music. However, when he first heard the genius of Jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell, Willie devoted himself to becoming a Jazz artist. His major influences include guitarists Joe Pass, Pat Metheny and John Scofield as well as other instrumentalists. Willie currently resides in the Atlanta area where he leads his own groups and works as a freelance guitarist. In July 1961 he moved to N.Y.C. went to N.Y. School of music, also studied jazz guitar with Ronny Lee and Sal Salvador. Taught Saturday morning guitar classes for New Jersey Board of Education 5 years.
