Georgia Perimeter College, formerly known as DeKalb College, offers a range of transfer and career programs for more than 21,000 students. Founded in 1964, it provides programs in various fields, including anthropology, art, biology, chemistry, communications, English, foreign language, geology, history, emergency management and journalism. The college also offers classes in professional writing, mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology, sociology, dental hygiene, nursing and fire management.
