In 1979, Deane Beman, the commissioner of the PGA Tour, broke ground on his dream golf course being constructed on a 415-acre tract of soft marshland in northeast Florida. The Tournament Players Club features eight main golf courses Sawgrass that operate as daily-fee resort facilities. The courses include the Sawgrass Stadium Course in Lutz, Fla.; Heron Bay in Coral Springs, Fla.; Tampa Bay in Tampa, Fla.; Scottsdale course in Scottsdale, Ariz.; The Canyons in Las Vegas; Virginia Beach course in Virginia Beach, Fla.; Deere Run in Moline, Ill.; and Myrtle Beach in Murrell s Inlet, S.C. The remaining clubs are private membership clubs. Members and their guests have access to all of the other club s facilities and limited access to licensed courses. The Tournament Players Club network includes 23 facilities throughout the United States, including Duluth, Ga.
