The Southeast Georgia Regional Development Center originated as the Slash Pine Area Planning and Development Center in 1963. The center was a result of when leaders from across southeast Georgia came together to share common concerns and needs for their communities. The birth of the agency was part of the multi-county concept that was gaining popularity not only statewide, but across the United States. The Southeast Georgia Regional Development Center is comprised of the administrative and financial; community development; economic development; human resources, which encompasses the Area Agency on Aging and Workforce Development; and planning. It is located in Waycross, Ga.
