Sherwood Baptist Church

Established in 1955, Sherwood Baptist Church is honored as one of the top twenty churches in Georgia in baptisms by the executive committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention. Located at Albany, Ga., the Church offers prayers, worship classes, bridal and music suites. It also runs a Sherwood Christian Academy that offers education through grade 12 integrated with a Christan worldview. In addition, the Church has formed the divorce, cancer and co-dependency support groups to provide counsel to people in the community during times of crisis. Its Drey Line Ministry assists the homeless men of Albany and Alpha ministry assists the women of all ages who are facing difficult situations and decisions. Besides, the Church functions an Anchorage ministry that provides treatment for men struggling with alcoholism. Additionally, the Church has ministries, such as the Legacy Park for sports and recreation, Lord s Pantry for offering free groceries, clothing and spiritual encouragement to the impoverished.
