About Cowan Mill Church Cowan Mill Church is a cooperating member of the Southern Baptist Convention, supporting over 5, 000 missionaries worldwide. We minister to the Winston, Georgia and surrounding metro-Atlanta areas. We look forward to seeing you visit us! Acts 1: 8 - "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Organized October 31, 1974 - 29 people met at the home of Jack & Anne Walker under the leadership of Rev. Howard A. Walker Sr. Associational Missionary Alfred Landers spoke about establishing a new church in the Bright Star Road area. The first Worship Service was November 3, 1974 with 50 people present (41 in Sunday School). The church was constituted on December 15, 1974, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. On April 25, 1975, ground was broken at the present church site. Pastor Walker drew the plans and supervised the building. The first Worship Service in the new building was November 2, 1975. The building was remodeled in 1995-96. In 2001 we were renamed to Cowan Mill Church to identify with our Community. We are grateful for the leadership the Lord has given us through the years, and we pledge our faithfulness to Him for the future.
