Plumbing Distributors

History

On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, established Plumbing Distributors, Inc at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Four employees, including Glad and Sid, manned the small business which offered counter sales and delivery. On February 13, 1976, PDI became a distributor of American Standard. This was a significant boost for PDI. The American Standard line enabled the company to prove itself as a competitive force in the plumbing industry. This helped PDI secure other major plumbing lines such as A.O Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures. As PDI continued to grow, the need for a larger facility became evident. The company wanted to stay close to its roots in the Lawrenceville area. A piece of property was obtained in an undeveloped industrial park off Collins Hill Road that had easy access to Georgia Highway 316.
