Landmark Landscapes HistoryThe Thelen Family entered into the commercial landscape business when in the mid 1980's Neil Thelen decided to leave the world of three piece suits and corporate jets for khaki pants and pick up trucks.Mark and John Thelen, two of Neil's three sons, joined the growing business as soon as they completed their educations. Mark graduated from the University of West Georgia with a degree in Business Management ( BBA ) and Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Theology ( ThM ). John graduated from the University of Georgia with a Landscape Architecture degree. The brothers are also nationally Certified Landscape Professionals.The Georgia operation, headed up by Mark, is well known for its award winning work in the commercial market ; which includes Apartment Homes, Home Owners Associations, Institutions and Commercial Real Estate.Ten years ago, John created the Asheville Branch of Landmark Landscapes. He has become one of the premier landscape contractors in western North Carolina. His work has been featured in several publications such as, Carolina Home and Garden, Pinnacle Living Magazine and Southern Accents.
