About ACM About ACM About Atlanta Community Ministries What We Do... And Why We Do It We are a faith-based non-profit that since 1996 has served more than a quarter-of-a-million people and seen over 2, 000 commitments to Christ, in all socio-economic sectors of the metro area. Last year, Atlanta Community Ministries ( ACM ) helped touch 40, 000 distinct individuals in Atlanta with the love of Christ, shared by more than 4, 000 volunteers. Rev. Dan Hayes is the founder and Executive Director of ACM. Prior to beginning ACM, Dan worked for more than 27 years with Campus Crusade for Christ. Let Dan tell you in his own words about ACM. We see ourselves as the spark that ignites the fire in individuals who have an idea to start a ministry or volunteer in the community, as well as in churches wanting to serve outside their four walls, looking for a better way to do so. We express our Vision and Mission this way. We've helped people launch ministries ranging from mentoring at-risk teens to providing spiritual food for young professional women. We've helped churches transform their entire community outreach, and we've helped individuals plug into multitudes of fulfilling service opportunities in Atlanta. In launching a lay-led volunteer project, ACM spends one-on-one time with these leaders, helping them think through their idea everything from their sources for funding and volunteers to the bigger vision of where they see their ministry going. Sometimes, churches become so focused on internal programs and needs that their members don't get to experience the real personal transformation that can take place when they are helping people in the community, so, we also connect churches and organizations to significant community service projects. Our ultimate goal is to get people out of their seats and into the streets to show what Christ's love is all about, whether you're the one being served or the one doing the serving. People become part of a community of Christians who are truly making a difference in our city. In essence, what we do is marry the Great Commandment ( Luke 10: 25-28 ) and the Great Commission ( Matthew 28: 16-20 ), to show both the love of Christ and the good news of Christ to our needy city. Everything we do is supported in prayer; in fact, we have our own prayer ministry ( ACM's largest ministry with over 100 volunteers ) focused on the work of ACM, and as part of our counsel to others, we encourage them to make focused prayer a priority too. This provides the power source for living out ACM's passion: helping mobilize volunteers in all sorts of ways, actually doing significant ministry and community service, thus changing the lives of thousands of others.
