George Walton Academy

George Walton Academy is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational, private day school located in Monroe, Ga. The college-preparatory day school, founded in 1969, offers educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades kindergarten through 12. The school has an enrollment of more than 950 students and serves students from Walton, Newton, Rockdale, Oconee, Morgan, Gwinnett, Clark, DeKalb, and Barrow counties, Ga. The school is governed by a board of trustees and is a member of the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Georgia Independent School Association. The school has more than 120 faculty and staff members with a teacher-student ratio of 1-to20. School counselors coordinate guidance and individual faculty members assist as advisors to the students. The institution also invites parents to take part in the numerous activities of the school and participate in its Annual Loyalty Fund.
