Ezequiel J. Molina, MD is the new surgical director of the LVAD and Heart Transplant Program at the Piedmont Heart Institute. He earned his medical degree from Buenos Aires University in Argentina. He completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York ,where he served as a clinical instructor focusing on heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support devices. Dr. Molina is board certified in Thoracic Surgery and General Surgery. Dr. Molina has been practicing medicine for 10 years. He is proficient in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery including surgical coronary revascularization, aortic aneurysms, valve surgery, and complex reoperative surgery. He specializes in durable LVAD implantation, heart transplantation and surgical therapies for cardiogenic shock. Dr. Molina publishes and presents extensively in his field at national and international meetings. He has been an Investigator in several LVAD trials. Dr. Molina serves as a member of the STS-Intermacs Database Task Force, the largest durable LVAD registry in the world. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Molina was the surgical director of the LVAD and Heart Transplant Program at the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute in Washington, DC. He also served as co-interim chair of the Department of Cardiac Surgery. Dr. Molina was an associate professor of Surgery at Georgetown University and the program director of the mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation surgical fellowship. In his spare time, Dr. Molina enjoys spending time with his wife and three little children. He enjoys cycling, running, reading, and traveling. Dr. Molina is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.

Devina Bhasin, MD

Dr. Devina Bhasin is a transplant hepatologist at Piedmont Transplant Institute. Her focus is general liver disease and care of the cirrhotic patient and she has a special interest in the treatment of viral hepatitis. Dr. Bhasin earned her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed her residency with the Yale University Traditional Medicine Residency Program. She has worked on several other research projects on liver disease, viral hepatitis and hepatitis treatment throughout her career and has been published for her work in clinical research. Prior to joining Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, Dr. Bhasin was a Medical ICU Hospitalist at Yale New-Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. She has an interest in public and global health issues and was a Yale/Johnson & Johnson Physician-Scholar in International Health in Cape Town, South Africa, where she performed health work in under-served areas with particular focuses on HIV, Tuberculosis and preventative care. She has also spent time teaching and caring for patients on the gastrointestinal and liver disease unit at Mulago Hospital in Kampala,Uganda.
