Dr. Patricia Rich is welcoming her patients at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Atlanta, with smiles and hugs and caring for them as if they were members of her own family. As a Medical Oncologist at CTCA® Atlanta, Dr. Rich focuses primarily on treating lung cancer and head and neck cancer, but also treats other solid tumors as well as sarcomas, melanoma and some breast and prostate cancers. She takes time to sit with her patients, listening to their concerns, answering their questions and encouraging them to maintain hope and optimism. She also empowers her patients and their families, involving them in the decision-making process when recommending treatments. "I believe that if patients learn about their cancer diagnosis, their treatment options and anything their treatment involves, including side effects, they will have more hope and be better equipped to manage their cancer journey," Dr. Rich says.

Frederick L. Durden Jr., MD is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at City of Hope Cancer Center Atlanta (formerly Cancer Treatment Centers of America [CTCA]). His approach to care offers advanced treatment techniques in an environment that cares for the whole person. As the Medical Staff President, Dr. Durden is growing a strong cancer center for microsurgical reconstruction. He also focuses on the bigger picture. "I enjoy providing care in an environment that treats all aspects of life," says Dr. Durden, "mind, body and spirit." Dr. Durden's work focuses on the reconstruction of wounds related to trauma and a broad range of cancer types.

As a Pain Specialist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Dr. Mark Axness understands the importance of pain control in cancer treatment. "I believe that the control of pain results in an enhanced immunologic profile for the patient," says Dr. Axness.
