Dickerson Middle School

Founded in 1975, George Walton High School offers an extensive academic curriculum for students in grades nine through 12. The school is located in Marietta, Ga., and has an enrollment of more than 2,000 students. It is governed by the Cobb County School District and the subjects offered include English, mathematics, science, social studies, business and information technology, fine and media arts, foreign languages, special education and health and physical education classes. Its fine arts department offers band, orchestra and chorus lessons. The school offers various clubs and organization for the students, including beta, chess, foreign languages and environment clubs, debate team, Asian culture clubs, academic bowl, Amnesty International, the Future Business Leaders of America and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. George Walton High School also provides a variety of athletics activities that include baseball, basketball, volleyball, football, soccer, softball, lacrosse, tennis, wrestling, gymnastics, golf, swimming, cross country and track and field.

Alan C. Pope High School, located in Marietta, Ga., operates under the Cobb County School District. It offers classes from grades nine through 12 with an annual enrolment of nearly 2,000 students. Alan C. Pope High School offers classes in various subjects, including journalism, algebra, statistics, astronomy, environmental science, physiology, chemistry, oceanography, world history, psychology and sociology. The school also offers various foreign language courses, such as French, Spanish, German and Japanese. It organizes several extracurricular activities, including band, drama, orchestra, choir, and health and fitness activities. The Cobb County School District also operates other schools, such as Hayes Elementary School, Mount Bethel Elementary School and Dodgen Middle School. Founded in 1987, the high school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
