Decatur Prevention Initiative

The Decatur Prevention Initiative (DPI) is a non-profit organization based in Stone Mountain, Georgia, dedicated to promoting healthy communities and supporting youth and families in overcoming the negative impacts of substance misuse. With over 25 years of experience, DPI implements evidence-based prevention programs and fosters a coalition of youth and adult representatives to drive community-level change and promote positive social norms.

Since expanding its focus in 2012, DPI has achieved a noticeable decline in underage drinking and substance misuse, as well as an increase in parental disapproval of drug use. As a founding member of the Decatur Parents Network, the organization prioritizes parent involvement and seeks partnerships to address ongoing concerns surrounding prescription drug misuse and the opioid epidemic.
