Founded in 1984, Georgia Lung Associates is one of the largest pulmonary practices in Georgia. The company provides a variety of imaging and allergy testing services. It has a pulmonary rehabilitation center that conducts aerobics, breathing, symptom management and strength exercise sessions for patients who suffer from bronchitis and emphysema. Georgia Lung Associates also serves patients who suffer from sleep disorders. James V. Waldron, PA-C earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science at the University of Georgia. He graduated Cum Laude from the Physician Assistant program at the Medical College of Georgia. James has been practicing with the physicians of Piedmont Physicians Georgia Lung since 2006, focusing on pulmonary care, critical care and sleep medicine. He currently serves as the mid-level provider at the Austell location. James is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Georgia Association of Physician Assistants. Samuel Szumstein, M.D., earned his medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his pulmonary, sleep and critical care medicine fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Szumstein was in practice with Georgia Lung Associates. Previous to that, he was an assistant professor at the University of Virginia and helped train residents and worked as a staff physician at Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Va. He is board certified in pulmonary diseases, critical care medicine and sleep medicine. In his spare time, Dr. Szumstein enjoys spending time with his family, while traveling, hitting the slopes, riding jet skis, watching sports and listening to a wide range of music. Dr. Szumstein welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
