In the late 90s, the Howards Dr. Drew and Dr. Kaylar were on a mission to create an all-new womens health center tailored specifically to helping women. We also offer a variety of birth control options, such as the Liletta intrauterine device (IUD), to prevent unintended pregnancy.Preventive care services like well-woman annual exams with Pap smears are available to reduce risk factors for chronic diseases, including cancer. Our experienced providers also specialize in menopause management services and hormone replacement therapy to help women through the transition to their post-menopausal years.Women can also receive treatment for urinary incontinence, including innovative procedures like tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) surgery.The Howard Centers surgery center features the latest technologies in minimally invasive surgery. The Emergency Department, a part of the South Georgia Medical Center, is a 15-plus-bed facility that provides 24-hour emergency medical services. It serves more than 3,800 patients each month. The department operates a chest pain center and clinical decision unit. The Emergency Department handles cases related to accidents, illnesses and traumas. It uses the McKesson Patient Location Tracker and the Picture Archiving and Communication (PACS) technologies. The South Georgia Medical Center is a 300-plus-bed, nonprofit hospital that serves patients in southern Georgia and northern Florida. It provides occupational medicine, urgent care, medical imaging, surgical, laboratory and mobile health care services. The hospital employs over 2,300 people.
