The Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO), founded in 1855 by Mendelssohn's student Herman S. Saroni, is the second oldest orchestra in the United States, following the New York Philharmonic. Celebrated as one of the Southeast's premier orchestras, the CSO has evolved over the years, currently employing around 90 talented musicians from across the country and performing at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.
