Appalachian Children's Center

Established in 1969, The Elaine Clark Center serves children with special needs. It teaches cognitive, social, motor, language and self-help skills to children through regular classroom activities and individualized plans as per their requirements. The center also provides after-school and out-of-school programs for children up to the age of 12. The Elaine Clark Center s registered nurse performs a range of pediatric services for children, including medication, monitoring and other professional treatments. Its social service coordinators assist families through the transition process into the center, links children to services specific to their needs and monitors the needs of the families. Located in Chamblee, Ga., The Elaine Clark Center also provides educational sessions and a resource library for parents.

UCP of Georgia, also known as United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia, offers a range of community-based services for individuals who suffer from developmental disabilities. It provides early intervention, in-home support and after-school care services. UCP of Georgia is a charitable organization that is funded by individuals, corporations and community groups. It serves more than 176,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities. UCP of Georgia conducts several summer programs, as well as provides rehabilitative services. It additionally organizes training sessions in the areas of collating, unpacking, packaging, poly bagging, recycling, heat sealing, and labeling and stamping for the development of employment and life skills.

The Family Resource Agency works to improve the quality of life of children, adults and families. It administers the Family Violence Program, which includes shelter, help line, crisis counseling, referral, advocacy and support services for the victims of domestic violence and rape. The Family Resource Agency also trains and educates the community on domestic and sexual violence. It supports the Head Start program, which features comprehensive, early childhood education for the families of Bradley, Polk, McMinn and Meigs counties in Tennessee. The Family Resource Agency is located in Cleveland, Tenn.
