Scott Shelfo, MD, FACS is a urologic oncologist and Medical Director of Urology and Associate Clinical Professor at City of Hope Cancer Center Atlanta (formerly Cancer Treatment Centers of America [CTCA]), in Newnan, GA. He is skilled in urologic cancer surgery and has been at the forefront of developing robotic surgical programs. As a urologist/uro-oncologist, he works alongside medical and radiation oncologists, as well as patient support staff, to help tailor care to the individual patient. He performs both open and laparoscopic robotic surgery for prostate, kidney and bladder cancers. Dr. Shelfo also is skilled in reconstructive techniques for the urinary tract after surgical excision of malignancy, such as neobladder creation.

Sabarish Ram Ayyappan, MD is a hematologist oncologist at City of Hope Cancer Center Atlanta (formerly Cancer Treatment Centers of America [CTCA]), in Newnan, GA. Dr. Ayyappan is the Medical Director of Hematologic Malignancies, leading the blood cancer program after coming to City of Hope to help establish the bone marrow transplant program at our Atlanta hospital. He is triple board-certified in internal medicine, medical and hematology oncology and treats patients with a variety of types of blood cancers, such as lymphoma, leukemia and myeloma.

Previously working as a contract physician, Dr. Suji Mathew joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) as a full-time Infectious Disease Physician in November 2019. Board certified in infectious disease and internal medicine, Dr. Mathew is dedicated to antibiotic stewardship, infection prevention and the accurate diagnosis and treatment of infections. "My ultimate goal is to help, to heal and to serve patients at CTCA®,” she says. At the Atlanta hospital, Dr. Mathew works closely with care teams and patients needing expertise in either diagnosing or managing infectious diseases. CTCA Atlanta has several rapid diagnostic tests that quickly identify infectious pathogens, which helps in streamlining the treatment process. "In my role, I collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams for the rapid diagnostic testing of infections, pathogens or resistance genes," says Dr. Mathew. "I strive to quickly identify infection and continuously monitor treatment to improve outcomes."
