The Geo. D. Warthen Bank, located in Sandersville, Ga., provides financial products and services to residents throughout Washington County in Georgia. It offers customers checking and savings accounts, personal loans, Internet banking, VISA and Mastercard, ATM and debit cards, mortgages, safe deposit boxes, savings bonds, business checking accounts and night depository services. The bank was established in 1971 under the name of Warthen & Irwin, Bankers. In1932, a national charter was obtained and the bank's name became The Geo. D. Warthen National Bank. The bank continued to operate as a national bank until the 1950 s, when the national charter was surrendered and a new state charter obtained. The bank has operated as a state chartered bank since that time. It operates one additional branch office in Sandersville.
