Allan Pickens, MD

Dr. Jonathan Hundley is an abdominal transplant surgeon and is the Surgical Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation at Piedmont Transplant Institute. His special interests include liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, and general surgery for cirrhotic patients. Dr. Hundley graduated summa cum laude from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2000. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Michigan, and his abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. Prior to joining Piedmont Transplant Institute, Dr. Hundley served as Director of Liver Transplantation at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Dr. Lance Stein is transplant hepatologist and the Medical Director of Piedmont's Hepatology and Liver Transplant Program since 2021. He has been at Piedmont since 2010. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine. His special interests include viral hepatitis, alcohol related liver disease, acute on chronic liver failure, metabolic associated steatotic liver disease (MASH/MAFLD), and autoimmune liver diseases (including but not limited to autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis). He also is an expert in management of the complications of liver cirrhosis including portal hypertension and liver cancers. He is a fellow for the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American Gastroenterology Association, and the American College of Physicians. He has served on national committees for the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Transplantation. Following graduation from Temple University School of Medicine, he completed residency in internal medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He also completed a fellowship in advanced/transplant hepatology at both Columbia and Cornell-New York Presbyterian Hospitals.

Dr. Kunkel earned her medical degree at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. She then attended the Johns Hopkins Hospital where she completed her residency in Internal Medicine. She went on to complete fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, and Structural Interventions at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as Complex, High-Risk Indicated Percutaneous Coronary Intervention and Advanced Hemodynamic Care at Henry Ford Hospital. She has a Masters in Medical Education which she earned at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, and Echocardiography. Dr. Kunkel specializes in coronary artery disease, stable ischemic heart disease, complex percutaneous coronary intervention, chronic total occlusions, cardiogenic shock, and mechanical circulatory support. She is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans. Her special interests include spending time hiking with her rescue dog, exploring new food, as well as cooking and trying new restaurants.
