Young Contemporary Dance Theatre
The Young Contemporary Dance Theatre (YCDT), founded by Mrs. Traci Young Byron, also known as Supa Black Girl, in 2004, is a diverse community-based dance company serving hundreds of children and adults in South Florida. YCDT aims to enlighten and expand societal views on dance, providing affordable classes, workshops, and performances to increase community exposure and appreciation for the performing and visual arts.
Open to all ethnicities, races, and genders, YCDT primarily comprises African American students from low-income families. The company offers training in various dance styles and hosts two annual concerts, while also participating in conferences and providing free performances to the Miami community, including events at retirement homes and cultural centers.
