In 1981EMF began services formed by Volusia County government to meet the need for a county wide Advanced Life Support (ALS) service. In 1984 it partnered with Sheriff's Air One to provide licensed medical evacuation helicopter service to the citizens of Volusia County. In the next six years the Community Service program was initiated and the computer-assisted dispatch with pre-arrival was implemented. In 1996 it began partnership with anatomical board, University of Florida, Gainesville and also instituted a cadaver lab to train advanced procedures to paramedics and EMTs.
