VLP MARYS GROOMING BOARDING AND DAY CARE

History

We moved to Buzios, Brazil in 2008 after retiring in NY. We were shocked by the number of dogs in the streets fighting for their lives. We noticed the apathy and lack of empathy toward these beautiful animals. At this point we knew we had to do something. We started locally by carrying food and water in the back of our car and leaving them in public places, joined efforts with others in the community and created Teatro e Culturo Vira Lata (Theater and Culture for the Street Dog), an organization that used children's theater to promote kindness and compassion for animals. We created a partnership with local vets and pet stores that assists and provides in the health and well-being of these homeless animals through fundraisers and donations. When we left Buzios in 2014, we were still looking for a viable way to help, we created an eCommerce business to raise funds, volunteered at rescues and earned grooming certification, worked as a grooming trainer and opened VLP.

Specialties

We are pet groomers and dog advocates. We offer day care services where your dog can play and enjoy the caring attention of our staff. A portion of all proceeds goes directly to food and medical supplies for street dogs (vira latas) in Brazil.
