Tampa Police Department - District 1

Founded in 1855, the Tampa Police Department s mission is to protect the lives, property and constitutional rights of the residents of Tampa, Fla. by maintaining and promoting community order and respect for the law. The department s special operations division includes the aviation unit, traffic and DUI units, K-9 unit and the mounted and marine patrols. Its investigations division includes the major crimes unit, narcotics unit, homicide unit, missing persons bureau, domestic violence team and the forensic investigations team. The support services division is responsible for personnel, records, communications, evidence control and civilian volunteers. The Tampa Police Department employs more than 1,000 uniformed officers and nearly 375 civilian support personnel. It has operations on Tampa Bay Boulevard.
