Stephen Rogers Kennedy, MD

Dr. Thompson specializes in interventional cardiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. He joined the hospital staff in 2020. He was previously a pediatric cardiologist and medical director for Child Cardiology Associates in Fairfax, Virginia, and chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology of the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency, serving as chief resident, at Children’s National Medical Center. He then completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship with a focus in catheterization and interventional cardiology at University of California, San Francisco. He has been a principal investigator for multiple clinical trials for devices to close defects in the heart through catheters rather than open-heart surgery. He has performed device closures of over 1,500 defects. He was the first physician in the United States to use a novel transcatheter suture delivery system and is leading a multicenter, multinational trial on that device. His passion is the delivery of compassionate care to his patients and their families.

Dr. Gonzalez-Gomez is a pathologist at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He joined the hospital staff in 2009.His research interests include pediatric neuropathology and in particular neuro-oncogenesis, the search for the etiology or processes that lead to the development of brain tumors, including cellular morphologic features, patterns of growth, immunophenotype, metabolism, proliferation, apoptosis/necrosis, vascularization and response to therapy.Dr. Gonzalez-Gomez earned his medical degree at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed a multidisciplinary internship at Hospital General de Tlaxcala, Ministry of Health and National Autonomous University of Mexico. Dr. Gonzalez-Gomez trained in anatomic pathology at Instituto Nacional de la Nutricion in Mexico City, Mexico. He completed a residency elective rotation, pediatric pathology fellowship and neuropathology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, University of Southern California.Dr. Gonzalez-Gomez is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Frederick Kuo is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he also serves as Director of Data Analytics for the Department of Anesthesia. He holds the rank of Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He joined the hospital staff in 2021. Dr. Kuo earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine with training at Texas Children's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Kuo’s clinical focuses include point-of-care ultrasound and esophageal/airway treatment, and he is involved in residency and fellowship education and training. His research interests center around clinical informatics and machine learning using large clinical data sets and registries to improve patient care and outcomes.
