State Fire Marshall Division

Established in 1889, City of Dade City is a part of the Pasco County in Florida, and it serves as a commercial center for an area encompassing more than 71,000 residents. Its local population is primarily in to agriculture centered on citrus and cattle production, and service, government and retail jobs. The city governs various departments, including building, water, sewer, finance, parks, planning and zoning, police, public works, recreation and streets. Its code enforcement department offers various services, such as fire prevention and inspection services, and education and compliance enforcement of the ordinances and laws to residential and commercial communities within the city limits. The Building Division is a part of the Hernando County Development Department located in Brooksville, Fla. It focuses on the implementation of building codes and county regulations. The division issues building permits for construction projects in Hernando County, Fla. It also conducts inspections for building, mechanical, plumbing and electrical work at various stages of construction. In addition, the division issues and maintains contractor licenses and processes the review of residential and commercial applications. The Building Division operates contractor licensing, inspections, permitting and zoning divisions. Its automated permit inspection management system allows callers to schedule inspections through telephones. The Building Division maintains a team of building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical inspectors.

In December 1968 the Spring Hill Civic Club donated $75 for a Fire Department Budget and $35 for a charter. In 1969 The Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department was created. In December of 1972, after a special referendum election, the Spring Hill Fire Department became the Spring Hill Fire & Rescue District. This was a special fire tax district, voted for by the citizens and making Spring Hill Fire & Rescue the first and only government body in Spring Hill. The department has four stations. Spring Hill Fire Rescue has gone from a small handful of volunteers with one truck, a tanker and an ambulance, to a department of 85-plus personnel with more than 65 active firefighters including the chief and assistant chief, four paramedic engines, four rescue/paramedic units, two reserve ambulances and a rehab unit.
