Southern Insurance Group, an independent insurance agency in Clermont, Florida, was started June of 2008 as a means to offer the local community the best insurance and financial products, rates, and services that the insurance marketplace affords. We have accomplished this by securing the most competitive carriers to represent all of our various lines of insurance and financial services.The owners, Tom and Tish Johnson, have been residents of Clermont for the past 18 years and bring over 28 years of insurance and financial planning experience with them when they opened up the agency in 2008. Prior to this, they worked for a captive insurance agency for the past 20 years.The need to offer more competitive Home Insurance markets became apparent after the 2004 hurricane losses which brought so many restrictions to the captive marketplace with carriers such as State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Farm Bureau to name a few. Because of these captive carriers having so many Homeowners Insurance restrictions, Tom and Tish felt it was the right time to open up an independent agency in their hometown in Clermont, thus the beginning of Southern Insurance Group.
