Romer Orada, D.O., is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Orada specializes in cancer rehabilitation and treats patients who have impairments related to cancer or associated treatments. These include musculoskeletal disorders, neuropathy, weakness, gait difficulty, balance problems, spasticity, contracture, difficulty swallowing and lymphedema. He is fluent in English and Filipino/Tagalog. He works with a multidisciplinary team and uses treatments like non-opioid medications, targeted therapy/exercise prescriptions, therapeutic injections, bracing/orthotics, assistive devices and education to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for his patients with cancer-related impairments or disabilities.Dr. Orada joined Miami Cancer Institute from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. During his cancer rehabilitation fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, Dr. Orada served as a co-investigator for a case series of breast lymphedema. He is also a frequent speaker and lecturer on topics related to cancer rehabilitation. During his residency, Dr. Orada was named chief resident and resident of the year. He also served as the residency rotation director of the Cancer Rehabilitation PM&R rotation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Orada takes a holistic approach to caring for his patients. He considers their diagnosis and how the disease process affects a person’s overall well-being physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually. His goal is to optimize function, prevent further impairment and improve the quality of life for people undergoing cancer treatment, no matter where they are in the cancer journey. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Orada enjoys tennis, watching college basketball, trying new restaurants, anything outdoors, and traveling with his wife and family.

John Paul Diaz, MD

John P. Diaz, M.D., FACOG, FACS, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and holds multiple leadership roles at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, including chief of gynecologic oncology, director of robotic surgery and director of clinical research in gynecologic oncology. He also performed Florida’s first uterine transposition procedure for a patient with gynecologic cancer, preserving reproductive potential in a groundbreaking approach. Under the direction of Dr. Diaz, Miami Cancer Institute’s gynecologic oncology research and clinical trials program offers innovative treatments and advanced technologies to women in South Florida. His research interests include new surgical methods for ovarian cancer and innovative cancer therapies like hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy and immunotherapy. He was awarded a $1.7 million research grant to investigate novel therapeutics for the treatment of gynecologic cancers. Dr. Diaz has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at scientific symposiums. He serves as a reviewer for Gynecologic Oncology, BioMed Cancer, International Journal of Gynecologic Oncology and the Annals of Surgical Oncology. He also holds several leadership and committee positions within such professional organizations as the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and was inducted into the Iron Arrow Honor Society, the university’s highest honor. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, N.Y., where he was awarded the Department of Surgery’s Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. Juan Pretell, M.D., is a musculoskeletal oncology surgeon and the chief of musculoskeletal oncology surgery at Miami Cancer Institute. He is fluent in English and Spanish.Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute in 2022, Dr. Pretell worked at University of Miami where he was an Associate Professor of Orthopedic and Faculty of the Orthopedic Surgery residency program and Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship. He also was the director of clinical research in the Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology Surgery.Dr. Pretell’s research has been published in high-impact national and international orthopedic and oncology journals. He has been a speaker in national and international meetings, and faculty for international Musculoskeletal Oncology courses. He is an active member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and fellow of the AAOS. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.Dr. Pretell’s approach to patient care is to view patients and their families as his own family members.
