As a board-certified psychiatrist holding a specialization in adult general psychiatry, Manjit Vohra, MD, serves communities in and around Manatee County at Tropical Mental Health in Sarasota, Florida. With over 40 years of clinical experience, she treats prevalent mental health conditions like depression, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse disorders, but also less common conditions like schizophrenia spectrum disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disorder. Dr. Vohra is an expert in Aaron T. Beck’s cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) style of psychotherapy, an effective intervention for managing depression and anxiety disorders. When necessary, she prescribes psychotropic medications to treat major mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and various forms of depression. After completing postgraduate training at the Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Vohra worked in private practice in psychiatry in Virginia until 2008. Then, she traveled up and down the East Coast, working as a consultant psychiatrist at various esteemed hospitals from Maine to Florida. Dr. Vohra treats patients from across a wide spectrum of ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, and geographic locations. The diversity in her work patterns and clientele characteristics has helped her mature as a seasoned professional and solidified her skill set for providing culturally competent mental health care.
