Rollins College, Florida's oldest institution of higher education, was founded on April 28, 1885 in Sanford. It was incorporated, organized, and named in the Lyman Bank Building by a group of esteemed individuals, including Rev. E.P. Hooker, Rev. J.A. Tomlinson, Hon. F.W. Lyman, and Rev. S.D. Smith.
