Since its founding in 1937, the Historical Society has grown from its first donation—a vintage black-and-white photograph of an island street scene by West Palm Beach attorney A. Stanley Bussey—into a rich collection representing Palm Beach County’s diverse cultures and histories. The Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum, established in 2008, now houses this collection, showcasing the county’s and Florida’s heritage, which spans over 12,000 years. The museum offers free admission to most exhibits and the historic courtroom on the third floor. From November to June, visitors can explore the Grand Exhibition. Additionally, the museum provides public and private tours and hosts events, workshops, and lectures, enriching the community’s understanding of local history.
