PVPV/Rawlings Elementary School

Ponte Vedra-Palm Valley School is based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. It serves students in grades kindergarten through two. In kindergarten, the school uses the diagnostic reading assessment to match children to their appropriate reading level. Literacy development is emphasized throughout the day as students participate in the Accelerated Reading program, small-guided reading groups at student s individual instructional levels and interactive writing. It also offers Zaner-Bloser handwriting, the Houghton-Mifflin reading series and other reading programs, such as Junior Great Books and Great Leaps. Its second grade class is equipped with Macintosh computers and the Internet. Teachers are trained in various Macintosh programs and Internet Web sites. Second grade students can also participate in technological learning experiences such as Appleworks 6.0, Web quests, Kidspiration and Power Point.
