Polk County Sheriff's Office

The Polk County Sheriff's Office, also known as PCSO, is a full-service law enforcement agency. It is governed by Polk County in Florida. The office provides civil and criminal process, limited service response and assistance services to municipal agencies. The Polk County Sheriff's Office also offers crime prevention and educational programs and victim assistance solutions. It provides school crossing guards for the Polk County School System. The office also offers the Crime Stoppers program. The Polk County Sheriff's Office maintains jail facilities. It additionally has a staff of more than 1,000 individuals. The office operates animal control, security and support divisions.

The objective of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office is to provide an optimum level of service to the citizens of this county. It is therefore, the mission of this agency to enhance the quality of life for citizens by reducing both crime and the fear of crime throughout Seminole County. The responsibility of this Office is to reach beyond the typical reactive law enforcement role to protect and serve, to reach beyond proactive law enforcement, and to become coactive with the citizens of Seminole County. In this role, we, as the members of Sheriff's Office, will improve the quality of life for the citizens of Seminole County. We seek to reduce not only crime itself but the fear of crime. We seek to fortify the public trust from which our authority is derived. We seek to be more accountable by allowing more public input into the ways in which our services are planned and provided. We seek to be more resourceful, imaginative, and aggressive in our approach to crime. By doing so, we encourage the public to become an involved partner. As a public service agency, we will streamline and remove barriers that are typical of inaccessible bureaucracies. We will work with the community in obtaining assistance and resources from other agencies, both public and private. We shall provide a public service, and through that endeavor, establish Sheriff's Office as a facilitator for quality of life issues - not just a provider of basic law enforcement service. The Polk County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency serving Polk County, Fla. It provides law enforcement services, including civil and criminal processing, assistance to municipal agencies, and crime prevention and educational programs. The office employs more than 500 civilians and approximately 570 sworn and over 420 certified officers. The Polk County Sheriff's Office is approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and the Public Safety Communications Accreditation Program. It has a vice unit that handles investigation of prostitution, lewd activity in county parks, adult establishments, pornography, regulation of alcoholic beverage laws and escort services. In addition, the Polk County Sheriff's Office has a gang unit and auto-theft task force.
