Personnel Department is a part of the city manager s office, which is operated by the city of Cocoa Beach, Fla. It is responsible for hiring, employee relations, employee benefits, insurance and risk management in the city government. Its functions cover various city government departments, including city manager and clerk s office, building, finance, personnel, information technology, police, fire, utilities and recreation departments. It advertises open positions as vacancies occur and keeps the positions open till they are filled. It holds applications for six months if an opening occurs for which the applicant is qualified. Regular full-time positions include various employee benefits, including health, dental, life and long-disability insurance, holidays and paid time off, and a retirement plan, which are administered by the department. The office of the Personnel Department is open Monday through Friday.
