Those participating not only have an opportunity to help the medical community but may be able to receive new medications for your condition not yet available to the general community. Research volunteers may also be eligible to receive lab testing, X-Rays, ECG's, and doctor visits all at no cost, as well as compensation for time and travel expenses. Rheumatology Services Rheumatology is a medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of certain autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Dr. Howard M. Busch started the Family Arthritis Center in 1987 and has built a tremendous following through his diagnostic skills and compassionate treatment of his patients. Dr. Dehghanpisheh, PhD, M.D., began his work at the Family Arthritis Center in 2005, and with his background in immunology and research has been a valuable addition to our staff. Dr. Roberto R. Acosta received his medical degree from Universidad Del Norte School of Medicine in Colombia. He moved to the United States to continue his education and completed his residency in Neurology at USF- The University of South Florida, where he was a chief resident. Dr. Acosta completed his fellowship in Sleep Medicine at UM-University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital and graduated in 2011. Dr. Acosta is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Sleep Center at the Center of Neurology and Sleep Center in Loxahatchee, Florida. Dr. Acosta is fluent in English and Spanish.
