The Palm Beach County-Public Safety Department is comprised of various divisions, including animal care, consumer affairs, emergency management, and justice and victim services. Its animal care division is accredited by the Humane Society of the United States and is responsible for animal law enforcement, pet identification, rabies vaccinations and the rescue of abused domestic animals and livestock. The Palm Beach County-Public Safety Department s consumer affairs division assists residents and visitors with advice and information about unfair, fraudulent and deceptive practices of businesses and landlords. Its justice services division provides professional assistance to citizens in the areas of mentoring, monitoring, arbitration, guardianship, legal representation, guidance, counseling, therapy, education, psychological testing and evaluation. The Palm Beach County-Public Safety Department is located in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Traffic Division is a part of the Palm Beach County Government and provides services for the safe and efficient movement of traffic on roads through professional traffic engineering. It designs and installs signalization, pavement markings and signing. The division also offers engineering input for road construction projects, land development, and site and transportation planning. Its construction section constructs new intersection signal installations, including poles, wires, vehicle and pedestrian signals and vehicle detection loops. The division also installs and maintains street lights and repairs signal equipment at intersections damaged by vehicular accidents. The Traffic Division additionally operates traffic data analysis section that conducts engineering studies related to the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on county roads, as well as offers engineering assistance to municipalities. The division is located in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Palm Beach County Bridge Section is a specialized division of the Road and Bridge Division for the Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works agency. Bridge Section is responsible for: maintenance of eight bascule bridges over the Intracoastal Waterway and one swing bridge at Point Chosen; and maintenance of 271 various types of fixed bridges, including interstate highway crossings, canal crossings, and pedestrian bridges. This maintenance includes electrical, mechanical and structural repairs. Bridge Section also conducts routine bridge inspections as required and oversees the maintenance and construction of guardrails on county roads. Finally, it constructs concrete sidewalks, storm drain structures, handicap ramps and upgrade bridge parapets. Palm Beach County is located in southeast Florida and has a population of more than 1 million residents.
