Fort Foster State Historic Site is a reconstruction of a fort originally established in December 1836 during the Second Seminole War, intended to defend the Hillsborough River bridge and function as a resupply point for soldiers. Visitors can explore the fort and enjoy living-history demonstrations that recount both military and Seminole perspectives from this pivotal period in Florida's history.
The site features an Interpretive Center displaying artifacts from the fort and offers annual events such as the Fort Foster Rendezvous and the Candlelight Experience at Fort Foster. The Florida Park Service, committed to preserving the state's natural and cultural heritage, ensures that visitors can engage with and learn about Florida's rich past in an interactive environment.
